“Room” of the Week | Outdoor Spaces We Love.

A beautiful and functional outdoor living space has become more than just a trend. The days of the backyard grill and picnic table are long gone, replaced by sophisticated backyard “rooms” for entertaining, playing and relaxing.

Whether it’s a multi-level or wrap-around deck, a patio with features such as a pergola, outdoor kitchen, and fire pit, or an inviting in-ground pool with room for lounging and dining alfresco, outdoor living has hit its stride in the 21st century.

Here are a few outdoor design trends we’re loving:

  • A round patio creates a perfect stage for gathering around a fire on a chilly fall evening, and a great focal point when walking out the back door. You can include a rounded seating wall, comfy chairs surrounding a stone fire pit, the possibilities are endless!
  • A beautiful multi-level deck has architectural appeal to spare and compliments this beautifully landscaped yard to perfection. Grab a tall lemonade, a good book and head for the lounge chairs!
  • An inviting setting for an evening swim with friends followed by a fireside get-together and a cocktail. Count us in!
  • There’s still nothing quite like a front porch for sitting with a hot tea and watching the leaves change color on a crisp autumn day. Love the unexpected stone-paved floor and bright red rockers, too!
  • For a grown-up version of “camping out” in the backyard, a screened-in sleeping porch is perfect, especially one that’s this dreamy.

There are so many great options for creating beautiful and practical outdoor spaces these days that anyone building a new home could (and should!) include in their budget. If you’re in the market for a new home in or around the Miami Valley, contact us. With over 65 years of building experience behind us, we’re certain you won’t regret it!
